Book Review: Generation Z Unfiltered

Generation Z Unflitered by Tim Elmore is a thought provoking book. I now have words and language to describe and better understand my world. Let me explain:

The printing press (the 1400’s) changed people and society BIG TIME. It took a while (maybe a hundred years) but the printed page impacted their world. Widespread and easy access to information was a game changer. It was a brave new world and things were never the same again.

The internet and smart phone are changing our world. Technology has taken connection to a new level. We swallowed the medicine and the side effects are still unknown.  How does it affect us to be so closely connected? The jury is out (it hasn’t been a hundred years) and we are a frightened bunch of adults.

Comments:

  1. Adults today are whining about young people. We need to understand them, not stomp them in the dirt.

  2. Young people today are different. It’s our fault, we made them who they are. We have over protected and under empowered—because in our fear we were trying to protect them.

  3. The most scary thing of all: I’ve experienced symptoms listed for Generation Z. (Fear of boredom and a sense of entitlement.)

If you like patterns and want to see the big picture, take a look at Generation Z Unfiltered. It rocked my boat.
